May 2026: Find your Big Rocks

Dear Readers,

It has been a busy real estate spring as always, but it is also so much fun for me. I love connecting with past clients for the next phase of their lives or referrals from past clients who are ready to get to work and make change happen!

Even amongst all the business and chaos, I try and find balance in my own ways. One way I have attempted to have life balance this year, is to really anchor my non-negotiable big rocks. On the more challenging days, I know that I have something I am working towards that is not that far away.

Mr Fox and I just got back from celebrating our 40th anniversary at Whistler. We will most likely go down to the Oregon Coast to The Stephanie Inn & I would also like to explore Ucelet and Tofino, in British Columbia. I have been promised a Farm to Table Dinner this summer on Whidbey Island. I will be looking for a waterfront Airbnb for a week on the Island if anyone has any ideas. The Big Deal this year is the September wedding for my daughter. She wisely hired a wedding planner because she has a job that can be high stress and time consuming. Also when one gets married past their mid thirties they have their own vision of what they want and it certainly is not even remotely what I envisioned but is clearly “them”. So I get to be a guest with zero stress and just enjoy the day.

In the fall, I will be returning to Modern Elder Academy in early October for a week to study with Krista Tippett again. Then in late October I have been accepted to study with David Whyte (the poet) on Whidbey Island that I am over the moon delighted about. It is a workshop called Conversational Leadership and I am so excited to find something so up my alley and close(ish) to home. The 50 year old me would have thought of 101 reasons why I had no business even applying. The 66 year old me is thinking what have I got to lose and yes I might be able to add something to the mix. I may not have a bunch of advanced degrees, as I am sure most of my cohorts will, but I have spent my entire working life managing difficult conversations. Surely I have something to contribute but more importantly to learn and continue to grow. I continue to want to lean more into the woman I am becoming and do the juicy work that is so rewarding. November will find me reuniting with some of my most favorite Real Estate on the East Coast. So you can see by anchoring my Big Rocks which are important to me, the year is easier to navigate through the more challenging moments with something to always look forward to.

Happy Mother’s Day to those readers who are moms. I have a very complicated relationship with my Mother which is always ever evolving. I feel like I am turning a corner but not quite yet ready to write about it publicly. Let’s just say there is so much wisdom to the age old advice that you cannot control the other person but only your reaction to them. Being disciplined about that has helped immensely to not getting hooked. Two great resources I have come across in my work is Bethany Webster who wrote the book Discovering the Inner Mother: A Guide to Healing the Mother Wound and Claiming Your Personal Power and if you have lost your mom and are missing her terribly this May then I strongly suggest a site called What’s Your Grief? Both are immense resources.

Enjoy the month of May my friends! Gardens should start looking amazing. There are mothers to fete or remember. Spring travel breaks to enjoy. Meals shared with friends and family laden with lamb, asparagus, peas, spinach, rhubarb and strawberries. Start your days with intention and finish your days with gratitude. Read a few good books. Journal. Enjoy the Seattle International Film Festival if you are local. Yes of course there is a lot to be concerned with nationally but let’s narrow the aperture at least twice a day and give thanks.

BONUS: Not sure how long this is on sale but a fabulous cookbook Something Delicious is only $1.99 on Kindle today!

I am thankful for you dear reader and so grateful that you are here. If you have two extra moments, please leave me a comment on what you enjoy reading about here and what you would love to see more of. I would really appreciate that. This Encourager can also use some encouragement and good advice from time to time.

XOXO,

Coach Diane
